Easy Curve Drywall is standard CGC board, CNC-grooved on the back so it bends on site to a radius as tight as 3.5 in. No scoring or cutting relief lines on the job. Hang it, fasten it, finish it with the compound you already use.

Applications

Where it goes

Six common curves, with the product to use and what to measure before ordering. Green is the finished face; grooves always face the framing.

Segment arch elevation. Use soffit strips. Measure width, rise and depth.
Half-round arch elevation. Use soffit strips. Measure width and depth.
Elliptical arch elevation. Use soffit strips. Measure width, rise and depth.
Barrel vault section. Use 48 inch sheets, 96 to 120 inches long. Measure width, rise and length.
Cove ceiling section. Use sheets or 11-7/8 inch strips. Measure cove radius and run.
Curved wall plan. Use 48 inch sheets. Measure radius and wall height.

Installation

Five steps on site

Install over curved wood or steel framing designed for the radius. Full instructions are on the spec sheet.

  1. Frame

    Build the curve with framing at 6 in. on centre, tighter than a flat wall.

  2. Orient

    Grooved side toward the framing, grooves running parallel to the framing members.

  3. Bend

    Start at one end and work the board into the curve. Never go tighter than the minimum radius.

  4. Fasten

    Standard drywall screws at 6 in. on centre along the curve, fastening as you bend.

  5. Finish

    Standard tape and compound. A Level 4 or 5 finish is recommended on curved surfaces.

Round column wrap

  • Stand sheets vertically. Grooves run the sheet height, so the sheet bends across its 48" width.
  • Joints to flat drywall and between Easy Curve sheets are taped and finished like standard drywall.
  • For a column, order sheet count = circumference ÷ 48", rounded up.
  • When ordering, give the finished radius (R) or diameter (D) and the wall height. Confirm tight radii with us before ordering.
